Description

Friedrichshain People’s Park is the first city park in Berlin. The park was founded in 1840 to coincide with the centenary of the reign of Frederick II, King of Prussia, one of the founders of the Prussian-German statehood. The main attraction of the national park since 1913 was the “Fountain of fairy tales”. From the times of the GDR to the present day, the Friedrichshain Park preserved entertainment, especially loved by children, and especially in the summer – the fountain “Water Bell”. In 1968, a monument to Spanish anti-fascist fighters was erected in the Friedrichshain Folk Park. The monument in honor of the dead Polish and German heroes of resistance to Nazism was installed in 1972. In 1950, an open-air stage was equipped in the park, where performances are staged in the summertime, movies are shown and festival programs are held.
