Description

Gethsemane church, included in the list of state-protected architectural monuments, the Protestant church in the capital of Germany.nIn its appearance, the Gethsemane Church is a Neo-Gothic style using neo-roman and non-baroque elements. The building harmoniously combines the type of the elongated hall temple with the central center of the cross, forming a large octagon. This provides good visibility and audibility in the hall.nThe Gethsemane Church acquired special importance in the capital of the GDR at the end of the 1980s as a meeting place for activists of the movement to unite Berlin. In 2003, the Gethsemane Church again attracted close attention when, during the World Church Council, two ecumenical services were held in it with the general Eucharist of Protestant and Catholic Christians.
