Construction began in 1386, but it was completed only at the beginning of the 19th century, when, by order of Napoleon, the design of the facade was completed. Some details, however, were completed later, until 1965. Dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.nThe Cathedral is located in the very center of Milan and is its symbol. This is a late Gothic building that contains a lot of spiers and sculptures, marble pointed towers and columns connected by a large number of floating supports.nOne of the largest in Europe. Among the Gothic temples in terms of capacity, it is inferior only to Seville, and among Italian temples – only to St. Peter’s Cathedral in the Vatican. There are only 3,400 statues in the cathedral.
