Description

The Ministry of Aviation in Nazi Germany (1933-1945). The Ministry, created on April 27, 1933 on the basis of the Imperial Commissariat for Aviation, was responsible for the development and transfer to the production of aircraft for the rapidly developing German air force. The staff of the Ministry was represented mainly, if not entirely, by officers. In the building of the former imperial ministry of aviation in 1949 the German Democratic Republic was proclaimed. At present (c 1999), the Ministry of Finance of Germany is located in the building which received the name Detlef Rovedder’s house. At the facade overlooking Leipzig Street, is a memorial to the participants of the 1953 uprising.
