Yakiv Novitsky researched Khortytsia, Velykiy Lug, the ruins of all Zaporizhzhia Sichs, closely cooperated with Dmytro Yavornytsky. Yakiv Novitsky died on May 19, 1925 since then the miraculously survived oak reminds residents of the city about the «father» of Zaporizhzhia history.
