At Fitur 2021 there will be official national or local representations of Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, Honduras, Costa Rica, Peru, Dominican Republic, Brazil and Panama.

Given the importance of this fair, the first in the sector after the initial impact of the pandemic, ministers and vice ministers of Tourism from 18 Latin American countries signed last week the Declaration of Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), which establishes the key lines and the commitment of the region to relaunch the sector, making it more sustainable and inclusive.

These countries are committed to a sustainable and safe tourism once the pandemic is overcome and ask for common homologable standards for all, in order to ensure displacement.

The ibero-american ministers of Tourism present at the Show concurred on Tuesday, during the XXII Ibero-american Conference of Ministers and Entrepreneurs of Tourism (Cimet), in that the tourism sector is “already seeing the light at the end of the tunnel” of the crisis caused by the covid-19 and pointed out that “if we continue the way we are, we can begin to revive the tourist flows”.

(Also: travel agencies will show their offer at an event open to the public).

After a year of pandemic, all Ibero-American officials insisted on the importance of guaranteeing biosanitary security to visitors as a fundamental asset to relaunch the sector, in addition to other concepts already more established such as sustainability.

To do this, national officials offer a large percentage of vaccination in their countries, but they also call for standardized criteria around the world to determine whether a destination is safe.

Main novelties of the fair

As novelties of this atypical edition, the participants in the professional meetings must provide PCR tests or antigens of negative result, although they will not be required for the general public, who will be able to access the days 22 and 23 with preventive health measures.

In addition, at Fitur 2021 the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, will present the” green digital certificate”, which can be applied from June and will allow safe travel to certain destinations.
