Tourist places in Colombia not so well known by tourists
Across the length and breadth of Colombia, the country guards rich and interesting places that are not on the popular traveler lists. They are hidden, quiet and full of stories that are worth discovering.
This is a short list of those sites that you can include in your next outings, and that we are sure, will not disappoint you.

Pore, Heritage Village
Municipality of pore, Casanare, preserves relics that tell the importance it had for the country.
Pore, it’s our first recommended. This year it became the municipality number 18 to enter the tourist network of heritage villages and the first of the Department of Casanare.
It is located 72 kilometers from the capital of the Department, Yopal, and has in its streets the beginning of one of the most important milestones in the history of Colombia, since from there the troops left for the Boyacá Bridge, where victory was achieved in a decisive battle for freedom.

There began the liberating feat and it is for this fact that it is known as the ‘cradle of independence of Colombia’. In its territory there are still relics that tell the importance it had for the country: the prisons built by the Spaniards, the church, the cobbled streets and the mansions that preserve the colonial style.
Chinácota, the secret of Norte de Santander
Within the urban area of Chinácota, the Colonial Hotel is an ideal choice for passing travelers who want to add a stop before connecting with other nearby municipalities such as Pamplona.

Its sonorous name is unknown to many: Chinacota. 40 minutes from Cúcuta, the capital of Norte de Santander, it is a municipality desired for its great hotel and gastronomic offer, located between a mountainous valley, the historical setting of the country.
In muisca language, Chinácota means ‘ shining support behind the tillage’, a name that alludes to the evident drive of its inhabitants, who make this destination a must for nature lovers, who find there from glampings to large colonial spaces designed for family holidays, trips with friends or special celebrations.

A forest of Palms: Toche
A wax palm forest in Toche, in the Department of Tolima.
Reviewed by the ecologist Andrés Hurtado as one of the 10 destinations for this year: Toche, between Quindío and Tolima, is reached by road from Salento. The village is located in a fold of the mountain range. It has the largest and most beautiful wax palm forest in Colombia, with 600,000 trees. It is the tallest palm in the world. It reaches 60 meters. There is the Machín volcano. There are thermal baths. Along the royal road that comes from Ibagué to Quindío, Bolívar and Humboldt passed.

Swamp and its large lagoon
Ciénaga, in Magdalena, moves and much to captivate every day more travelers. Today it advances works that will not only improve pedestrian mobility conditions for tourist and inhabitants of Ciénaga, but will promote the Plaza Centenario and its surroundings as ideal places for the staging of folkloric, artistic and cultural expressions of the municipality and the Department of Magdalena.
Ciénaga, is one of the Heritage Towns of the country, and has urban attractions such as the Central Square and natural resources such as the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta (the largest lagoon in Colombia), the hot springs of ‘el Volcán’ and the palafitic settlements in Trojas De Cataca, Buenavista and Nueva Venecia.
