In the center of this square were built triumphal arches, decorated with headdresses and a huge fountain. Later, the Byzantines expanded the area and renamed it to Theodosius Square. From these buildings until today, only a few fragments of stone blocks and columns of the arch remained.nThe modern name of the square was built during the reign of Sultana Bayazida II in 1500-1506.
