Description

Church Nor Etchmiadzin is the temple of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Tbilisi. According to literary sources, the construction of Nor Etchmiadzin should be attributed to the end of the XVIII century, however, other sources retain the exact date of construction. Thus, the report of the builder and subsequently priest of this church, Archpriest John Martirosov-Voskerchyants, refers to the forcible resettlement of about 200 Armenian families from Echmiadzin, during which there was a battle of immigrants near the Arpa River with the Turks who drove them into the Ottoman Empire and transferred to Russian citizenship in Lori, after which they were settled by Tsitsianov and Archbishop Hovhannes in Tiflis.
