Fountain of fertility

The fountain of fertility, often called the fountain of bulls, is located in the square on Arnswalder Platz square. After the destruction during World War II, the GDR authorities repaired the fountain in 1959 and equipped it with lighting for night time. When city financial resources ceased to flow in order to further improve the area around the fountain, local residents took the initiative in their hands. Since September 2012, they regularly spend subbotniks, arrange flower gardens, organize general holidays under the motto “STIERisch gut” (bullishly good), playing around the common German expression “tierisch gut” (brutally good).
