[fbl_login_button redirect="" hide_if_logged="" size="large" type="continue_with" show_face="true"]Mariinsky Park is a park in Kiev, located opposite the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Mariinsky Palace between Mikhail Grushevsky Street and Parkovaya Road.nThe park was founded in 1874 by the project of the gardener Nedzelsky in place of the Palace Square and the military parade ground, where parades were organized.nThe park of 8.9 hectares is designed in landscape style. Quiet, shady, with old lindens, maples and chestnuts, the park is a unique monument of the park art of the past. The main entrance to the park is opposite the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Mariinsky Palace.nThere are more than 80 species of trees in the park, among them are Ailanth, Amur velvet, Canadian bunches, Schwedler maple, Japanese Sophora, etc.nIn November 1917, workers and revolutionary soldiers who died during the October 1917 armed uprising were buried in the square near the entrance to the park in a mass grave. On February 17, 1918, 750 people were buried in a mass grave in the park, killed during the January 1918 uprising.
