Montjuic Fortress – a fortification on Mount Montjuic, within the city of Barcelona, ​​which gave the name to two important battles – 1641 and 1705. One of the most important historical attractions of the city.nInitially, this place was a watchtower. The modern fortress appeared on Montjuic in 1640, during the uprising of the Catalans against the Habsburgs.nThe head of the Catalan government, Louis Companis, was shot at the fortress on October 15, 1940. Until 1960, the fort was used by the Franco regime as a military prison. In 1963, a military museum was opened on the territory of the fortress. In 2007, the fortress was placed at the disposal of the municipal authorities of Barcelona.
