Description

This is one of the oldest and most beautiful fountains in the city.nThe fountain is obliged by its appearance to Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the young sculptor Reinhold Begas took up the realization of this idea.nThe fountain was donated to Kaiser Wilhelm II by the Berlin Magistrate and was inaugurated on November 1, 1891.nAfter the demolition of the City Palace, which was destroyed during World War II, in 1951, the fountain was deposited. The sculptures were seriously damaged by shells and were restored in an art casting workshop in Lauchgammer. In 1969, the fountain “Neptune” was installed on a free site at a new location.
