St. Mary’s Church

The oldest of the existing evangelical churches in Berlin, one of the once six medieval churches in the historic center of the city.nThe first mention of the church with its own parish in the New City of Berlin dates back to 1292.nIn 1893–1895, Hermann Blankenstein conducted a large-scale restoration of the church, and after World War II, the church was restored in 1969–70.nThe Church of St. Mary and the Red Town Hall are now the only reminder of the historical center of Berlin.nIn the tower of the church of St. Mary is the famous fresco “Dance of Death
