It is located in the historic quarter of Nikolayfirtel. Currently, the church is a branch of the Brandenburg Museum as part of the Berlin City Museum Foundation, where concerts are also held regularly.nNikolaikirche, built in 1220-1230, was a three-nave cruciform basilica made of natural stone and was dedicated to St. Nicholas.nIn the XIII century, the church was rebuilt into a Gothic hall church. In 1938, the church became the property of the state, and since that time it no longer served in the service. Parishioners of the church moved to the neighboring Marienkirche.nIn the Second World War, only external walls remained from St. Nicholas’ Church. The restoration of the church with two towers according to old drawings and plans began in 1981. Currently, the church serves as a museum and concert hall.nDuring the reconstruction in 1981 in the tower were installed chimes of 41 bells.
