Former arsenal building in Berlin, the oldest surviving building on Unter den Linden Boulevard.nThe foundation stone was laid in 1695. Construction of one of the most beautiful buildings of German Baroque in Northern Germany was completed only in 1730.nOn the main portal – the image of the Prussian King Frederick I, by order of which was built Zeughaus. Two goddesses of Victory bear his coat of arms. Four female figures of the main entrance symbolize pyrotechnics, arithmetic, geometry and mechanics.nIn 1806 Zeughaus was destroyed by Napoleon’s troops. In 1817-1821, the building was restored, and during World War II it was again destroyed.nOn March 21, 1943, an attempt on the life of Hitler with Goering, Himmler and Keitel was planned during their visit to the exhibition of army trophies in Zeughaus. However, Hitler stayed at the exhibition less time than expected, and the plan failed.nFrom 1952 to 1990, the Museum of German History was located in the building of Zeughaus. After the reunification of the country, the squares were transferred to the German Historical Museum.
