Castelln hotels received 34% more travelers in April than the previous month but each respect to 2019 exceeds 70%
The hotel sector looks to the coming months with hope in the heat of a vaccination campaign that is progressing at a good pace, but data from the beginning of the year continue to show the harshness of the effects of the health pandemic on tourism.
During the month of April, hotels in the province of Castelln received a total of 30,929 travelers, which was 34% msthat in the month of March, but with a fact that remains in minim if compared to the figures before Covid.
In this way, and although in April hotels could receive up to a third more tourists than in March, compared to April 2019, the number of passengers exceeds 70%. At this point, it should be noted that the figure of April 2021 cannot be compared with that recorded during the past year, since in 2020 the hotels remained closed in that period due to the pandemic.
The data are extracted from the report Conjuntura Turstica Hotelera published on Monday the National Institute of Statistics (INE) corresponding to the month of April, with a period of Easter that continues to be very complicated for hotel establishments due to the measures of contention of the pandemic in force.
As for overnight stays, the evolution was similar to that recorded as far as travelers are concerned. Hotels in the province of Castelln recorded a total of 57.706 overnights during the month of April, a figure that meant an upturn of 34% with respect to the month of March. However, the comparison with the month of April 2019 continues to be devastating, since compared to the almost 58,000 overnight stays last March in the hotels of the province, in 2019 they were almost 315,000, so the percentage decrease reaches 80%, according to the detailed data provided by the INE.
