The library collection contains scientific literature covering all historical eras, all countries and all languages.nThe library was founded in 1661 by the Elector of Brandenburg, Friedrich Wilhelm. During World War II, the library’s funds, which at that time included about three million volumes and impressive special funds, were almost completely removed and hid in mines, monasteries and castles.
